2024 The fifth Hangzhou Contemporary Music Festival “Artinno Award” International Orchestra Composition Competition The "Artinno Award” International Orchestral Composition Competition of Hangzhou Contemporary Music Festival, organized by the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and the People's Government of Hangzhou Xihu District, and hosted by the Hangzhou Xihu District Artinno Town and the Department of Composition and Conducting of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, will be held from October 9 to 13, 2024. As one of the activities of the Hangzhou Contemporary Music Festival, the 2024 "Artinno Award" International Orchestral Composition Competition calls for outstanding orchestra pieces from composers around the world. The chairman of the jury is the French composer Phillippe Leroux. The competition's jury will choose six exceptional award-winning pieces from the submissions. The Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra will perform these chosen works on October 12, 2024, during the final concert. The jury will evaluate the live performances and establish the specific rankings. There will be one first prize of RMB 100,000, two runner-up prizes of RMB 50,000 each, and three third-place prizes of RMB 20,000 each (all awards are pre-tax). As one of the partners of the "Artinno Award," the internationally renowned Vienna-based publishing house Universal Edition is additionally awarding the first prize winner of the competition a year's Professional Plus subscription to Universal Edition's publishing tool Scodo (worth 600 euros). Each of the six winners will receive a free one-year subscription to Scodo, with Universal Publishing publishing the score (www.universaledition.com/scodo). Additionally, all participants receive a free voucher for submitting their work on scodo (worth €49). All "Artinno Award" participants will receive a coupon code with which they can submit their work for free on Scodo for review. Participants whose work satisfies the Quality Guidelines of Universal Publishing will receive recognition from the organization, which will subsequently publish the submitted work on Scodo. The festival's organizing committee will provide all finalists the festival passes for all concerts and will be responsible for the local and foreign winners' landing transportation, meals, and accommodation during the festival (The travel expenses will not be covered). Requirements for submission: 1. The registration fee is waived. 2. There is no limit on the nationality or age of the composer. Each person may submit only one orchestral work (non-concerto). 3. The length of the orchestra work is between 10 and 12 minutes. 4. The instrumentation of the works is: 3 3 3 3/4 3 3 1/4 perc. 1 Timp/1Harp/14 12 10 8 6. 5. Entries must be world premieres and be composed after 2022. 6. The participants must provide an electronic PDF file of the anonymous score and send it to hzcmf@zjcm.edu.cn before July 15, 2024. The participants are required to submit authentic information, including a scanned copy of their ID card or passport, a high-resolution photo of at least 1 megabyte, a phone number, an email address, a mailing address, a biography of approximately 150 words, and an introduction of works of approximately 150 words. 7. The finalists are required to attend all orchestra rehearsals and final concerts, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
